Waterford Tournament 2017

The third tournament of the season was one not to missed in sunny Tramore! A massive thank you to the Flavin family and Waterford Polocrosse club for an excellent weekend.

Well done to everyone who played in the brilliant weather and managed to keep themselves sunburn-free! Our very own Sam Deady finished in second place in D grade, while playing with a Carrickmines team. Laura Carey placed in third playing for a Horetown team in C grade. One of our B grade teams consisting of William Kelly, Elise Beausang and Mac Birrane took home their second B grade first place finish in three tournaments!

A special thanks to Tony O’Donnell who ensured we arrived at the pub after the barbecue safely and in style, then back home again! Big thanks to Laura for more great pictures of the weekend.

We all look forward to many more tournaments like last weekend.

Horetown Tournament

Well done to Horetown Polocrosse Club for hosting a great tournament in Cushinstown last weekend!

We had four teams playing and each enjoyed some great games. C grade was divided into a higher and lower sections and our two C grade teams each got into their respective finals. Our higher C grade team consisting of Johnny Carroll, Dan Birrane and Emily Collins were unlucky to lose out in the final, while our lower section of Philip O’Brien, Frances Nicholas and Jill Murphy overcame a Wicklow Bay team to claim first place. Philip O’Brien also picked up Best Player in the grade!

One of our B teams (William Kelly, Mac Birrane and Elise Beausang) made it to their second final in two tournaments! Unfortunately the final went against them with a good game versus a tough Carrickmines side.

Well done to all who made a great weekend. Already looking forward to the Tournament in Waterford next week!

Second Place B Grade: Mac Birrane, Elise Beausang and William Kelly

Birr Tournament

Brilliant tournament hosted by Birr Polocrosse in Nenagh last weekend as per usual! Thanks to Birr for an excellent weekend, filled with great facilities, food, craic and polocrosse.

All of our players played outstanding! Well done to Sam for playing his first tournament, he’ll be in A grade in no time! (Watch out Elise!) Our C Team with Dan Birrane, Philip O’Brien and Johnny Carroll placed in 3rd.

In B grade all of our players managed to make the the final. It was William Kelly, Elise Beausang and Aiden O’Leary facing up against Danny O’Leary, Paddy O’Brien and Mac Birrane. After three heated and tense chukkas, it was a draw. A golden goal strike from William Kelly won the game, for each of the teams second golden goal of the weekend.

William Kelly also picked up Best B Grade Player for his first tournament back in action!

Well done to Frances Nicholas and Danny O’Leary on making the European Challenge headed to Doncaster this July.

Also thanks to Martin O’Malley for some great pictures over the weekend. Roll on Horetown!

Second place B grade – Danny O’Leary, Mac Birrane & Paddy O’Brien

St. Patrick’s Day Tournament + Quiz Results

A great St. Patrick’s Day was had this year as we played some brilliant chukkas in Athlacca! After several fast-pased and very enjoyable games, Team 1, made up of William Kelly, Philip O’Brien and Bjorn Braeye came out on top taking first place! Finishing up second was Team 3 consisting of Danny O’Leary, Dan Birrane and Jill Murphy. Finally in third place was Team 2, Laura Carey, Johnny Carroll and Mick Collins! Thanks to all that participated and a special thanks to all of our spectators that came along to support.

Later that evening we held our fundraising table quiz and raffle which was a great success due to major support from our club members, the local community, our sponsors and The Corner House Bar, Athlacca. Thanks again to all those who donated prizes and to Orchard Equestrian who sponsored two lovely jackets.

Our winning table was Table 6, followed very closely by Team 4 and in third place was Table 1. Well done to everyone who joined in and made the night as enjoyable as it was!
